Red Fang’s “Dirt Wizard”

Man, am I the only person disappointed in the video? After the pure awesomeness of the last few Red Fang videos, this one feels positively pedestrian.

When considered against other bands’ videos, this is a totally solid road footage/live footage video, but I can’t help feel that it doesn’t live up to their previous work. Red Fang remain, however, a fucking awesome band.

Red Fang’s “Hank is Dead”

Continuing on their quest to release the best fucking music videos in all of heavy metal, Oregon’s Red Fang have released this video for the song “Hank is Dead” from 2011’s Murder the Mountains.

Not content to allow the wanton destruction of things in their station wagon to remain their peak, the dudes went and threw an air guitar competition. That is pretty fucking bad ass. And then they shot it and made it into a music video. Genius! I’d take 1 of these to a million “band in a warehouse” videos. I don’t care how sweet your song is; if you are a metal band playing in a warehouse I am instantly bored to death of you. I am glad to see Red Fang engaging their creativity to put out videos that are both fucking entertaining as hell and perfect reflections of their music.

And if you haven’t yet listened to Murder the Mountains (and I don’t know why you wouldn’t have since I’ve recommended it like a hundred times), go listen to it. It’s on Spotify. Don’t be a jive ass sucker.

Red Fang’s “Wires”

Though this video came out last week (two weeks ago??) and I saw it then—and enjoyed it immensely—there wasn’t an embeddable version to share with my legions of fans here on The Black Laser. But guess what!? There is now!

Red Fang are a Portland, OR band whose video for “Prehistoric Dog” and current record I posted for you people a while back. Unfortunately, the record is no longer streaming on NPR, but you can listen to it in its entirety on their bandcamp. Yay!

I also instructed you in the previous post to pick up a copy of Murder The Mountains because it is a solid slab of head-banging metal genius covered in a glistening sheen of cheap beer, hangovers, and sweat. If you’re having trouble imagining them and don’t want to just listen, imagine how The Sword would sound if they were less nerdy and had 50% bigger balls. Sounds awesome, right?

I don’t want to spoil the pure madness of the video above by giving you some limp-dick description, so I’ll just let you watch it for yourself. Needless to say, it’s one of the most entertaining videos I’ve seen in ages. Enjoy and buy their album in whichever format you prefer. I got it on vinyl.

Red Fang’s “Prehistoric Dog”

Red Fang’s video for “Prehistoric Dog” serves as both a paean to getting shitty on crappy beer and an admonishment against fucking with LARP nerds. Preorder their forthcoming album Murder the Mountains here. You can stream the whole record on NPR until its release on 4/12/11.

Enjoy. These guys rock.
