Here’s a handy gallery of all the images that live in the rotating image script on the side of the main Black Laser page in the order that I made them. You’ll notice that the early ones don’t have The Black Laser logo on them. That’s because I originally started making these as icons for my Facebook account as a protest against the typical Facebook icon which I found fell into one of very few categories.
Here is my original statement of intent from a Facebook conversation I was having with my friend Gardner.
The Ethereal Facescapes are my deliberate reaction to the sheer awfulness of most people’s photos on Facebook. I take exception with a few types. First, the photo that you are featured in, but very far away. Second, the photo where you are featured, but so are a group of your friends. Third, the photo where you have been cropped out of a group photo but there are still shoulders and crap from other people in there. Fourth, the boring “look at me I am smiling” photo. Fifth, the solo photo without any style or verve. I hereby refuse to use a photo that falls into any of these five categories for the duration of my Facebook career. I also hope that others will take up my flag and put a little bit of thought and effort into things like this. The internet would be a nicer place if they did.
Please enjoy the fruit of this concept below.

Stay tuned. I will be posting more here as I make them.
