Wolf+Lamb vs Soul Clap’s “Lonely C”

I love this video and the Wolf + Lamb vs Soul Clap DJ Kicks it comes from. Inhuman machine voices filled with longing set to minimal house music imbue the track with an eerie sadness I find fascinating. When married to the quiet visuals shot on location in the Korean winter countryside that sense of eerie, disembodied sadness takes on a more tangible, if dissonant, form that I find even more compelling. I can’t stop watching this video. It’s just really cool and pretty much perfect in doing what it sets out to.

The director Nils Clauss, an expatriate German living and working in South Korea, has this to say about the project.

The video shoot took place on a small farm in Jeollabuk-do province, South Korea in February 2011. The storyline was conceived in response to the song lyrics which tell of an unrequited love or a longing that can’t be satisfied or consummated. We came up with the concept of a brother and sister who are twins who have grown up lived and worked together on their parents’ small farm. They are confused and disturbed by the fact that their closeness has developed into a kind of sexual longing that they know they must hide away deep inside.

Fantastic. Check out more of Nils’ work over on Vimeo or at his site. And check out the Wolf+Lamb vs Soul Clap DJ Kicks record. It’s perfect rainy spring day music.

This is my friend Marrian’s dad…

…well, not really. But a man can dream can he not? Does he not have a great drummer’s face?

This was inspired by the following video which was floating around yesterday.
