I’ve never heard this version of the song before, but it’s pretty fucking awesome. Honestly, even more awesome is the video for it.

Right? Totally awesome. 1969 was a good year for Bowie, even if he desperately needed braces. I’m sure you’re more familiar with the version of Space Oddity here:

I’m sure that is the version all of you out there in Black Laser land are familiar with, unless I’ve missed something somewhere on the way. Of course, that is totally possible. But, on my version of the record it comes from, 1969′s Space Oddity, the latter of the two is the version there. Weird. So weird. I suppose I need to find out where the hell that crazy version came from. I have what I thought was the original and the 79 rerecorded version, but this older shit is fucking crazy, man.

Also, this.

Sorry about the lack of eloquence in this post.

Want to go to Mars?

Well you can’t. So get over it. But your name can, so I guess that’s some sort of distant consolation prize. One day aliens might read your confusing, uninspiring name from a microchip implanted on the next Mars rover. Exciting!

Where do I sign up!? Right here, Space Pilgrim.

I’m going. Tiffany’s going. Get on it already.

Did any of you loyal readers have any idea that Oderus was on Fox News? I found the third of these videos on MetalSucks today and it filled me with glee. I’ve been a die-hard GWAR fan since I was 11, at least. In fact, I took Juli and Jesse to see them perform just last October here in New York. Was it awesome? Does the Space Pope eat His young?! Of course it was fucking awesome. So, to see lead singer Oderus acting as Interplanetary Correspondent on some Fox News show I’d never until this moment seen or heard of is pretty awesome. I mean, GWAR on Fox News? How could that be wrong?

How terrified does Essie look in this one? NOT TERRIFIED ENOUGH.

And as a blast from the past for some of you, here is GWAR’s appearance on Jerry Springer. I’m pretty sure I stayed home from high school the day this aired to tape it. Unfortunately, Youtube doesn’t have the very beginning of the show, so I’m posting as much of it as I can. Next time I’m at home, I’ll find the old VHS and make a proper dub.

Here is Petey Greene describing the proper way to eat a watermelon. Prepare to be enlightened.

You know, he’s right about the tang of salt, too.

It’s H-O-M-E-R. My baloney has a second name it’s H-O-M-E-R.

That’s all. In other news, the Yankees are currently leading the Angels 3 to 0 in the bottom of the first inning. Go John Cheeses! Also, someone got shot or something a few blocks from my house. Lots of police cars, but not a single ambulance or fire truck.

The Boston Globe has posted a new “Big Picture” with photographs from Barry’s first 167 days in office. Politics aside, you must admit that there are some very good photos in this collection.

Here are some of my favorites.

Here is the whole set.

It wasn’t that they took their name from a Faulkner novel. Or that they’re Christians from San Diego. Or whatever. It’s this song. And more specifically the motherfucking double bass shit they throw down. So solid.

Sorry I’m not posting so much these days. Funemployment has some negative aspects. One is that I spend much less time at the computer. I promise, sooner or later once I have a more regular schedule established, I will get back to more regular postings. Love all 15 of you!
